Discover the most amusing traffic signals in Barcelona

Barcelona has once again embraced its creativity with the appearance of unique and very entertaining traffic lights in homage to the comic characters Mortadelo and Filemón. These well-known profiles from the comic by Francisco Ibáñez, who passed away last July in the Catalan capital, now illuminate the city streets as traffic guides.

The new traffic lights, located at the intersection of Passeig de Gràcia with Ronda de Sant Pere, join the first pair of traffic lights that already regulate pedestrian traffic in the Sant Martí district, in honor of Ibáñez.

The intersection of Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes with Bac de Roda street, a place close to where the cartoonist resided, and the intersection of Compte d’Urgell street with Manso street, are the other chosen locations.

The residents and visitors of Barcelona can enjoy the presence of the two famous TIA detectives in two of the busiest points in the city.

The silhouette of Filemón lights up in red, reminiscent of his iconic attire, while Mortadelo appears in green.

This idea has become a permanent reminder of Ibáñez's legacy in his beloved Barcelona, capturing the spirit and creativity of the city for all who visit it. With these traffic lights, Barcelona not only regulates traffic, but also pays homage to one of its best-known artists.
