Barcelona for science lovers

Whether you’re passionate about science or simply eager to learn in a different way, the city offers a wide variety of spaces where knowledge and curiosity take center stage. Museums, observatories, and historic gardens invite you to explore, experiment, and be amazed.

CosmoCaixa: a journey through the universe and nature

Located at the foot of Tibidabo, CosmoCaixa is one of the most renowned science museums in Europe. Inside, you’ll find interactive exhibits for all ages — from the Flooded Forest, a recreation of an Amazon ecosystem, to the Planetarium, where you can travel among the stars.

The museum also offers workshops, talks, and sensory experiences ideal for families and schools. A must-visit to learn and have fun at the same time.

Museu Blau: getting close to planet Earth

Located in the Fòrum Park, the Museu Blau is part of the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona. Its permanent exhibition, Planet Life, traces the evolution of the Earth from its origins to the present day, showcasing thousands of specimens and fossils that fascinate both children and adults.

The building itself, designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron, is a contemporary architectural landmark that perfectly blends science and design.

The Greenhouse and Ciutadella Park: the science of nature

For botany lovers, Ciutadella Park is much more than a green oasis. Inside stands the Greenhouse, an elegant 19th-century iron-and-glass structure that houses exotic and tropical plants. Although currently under restoration, it remains a symbol of the connection between science, nature, and heritage.

The park is also an ideal place for a stroll, to observe urban biodiversity, or to enjoy the surrounding scientific and educational spaces, such as the Geology Museum.

Fabra Observatory: gazing at the stars over Barcelona

Finally, a unique experience combining astronomy and history: the Fabra Observatory, located in Collserola. Opened in 1904, it is one of the oldest observatories in Europe still in operation.

In addition to its scientific mission, it offers guided tours, talks, and the popular Summer Nights, where you can dine under the stars and observe planets and constellations through its century-old telescope.
