"Festes majors" in Barcelona
Gràcia
The Festa Major de Gràcia, also known as Festes de Gràcia, held from August 15 to 21, is known for transforming its streets into an explosion of color and creativity. Each year, the neighbors compete in the famous decorated streets contest, creating true works of art that adorn the neighborhood streets. In 2024, the opening ceremony will kick off the festivities on August 14, featuring the special participation of El Torradet and La Gresca, celebrating 25 years of history.
Throughout the week, you can enjoy a wide range of activities including concerts, giants, shows, workshops, and a casteller day with a notable participation from the castellers of Vilafranca. One of this year’s novelties is the “quiet night” on August 18, dedicated to reducing nighttime activities to respect the neighbors' rest.
Sants
And... once the Gràcia festival ends, the Sants festival begins! From August 24 to September 1, enjoy this edition featuring the opening speaker Jesús Rodríguez, journalist from ‘La Directa’. The Sants Festival is also known for its rich program of concerts and activities that fill the streets with life and music.
The program also includes castells (with the borinots of Sants as protagonists), daily concerts, and shows spread throughout the neighborhood. As usual, each street will have its own decorations and activities, offering a unique experience in every corner of Sants
How to get there: Bus, Metro , and FGC. Use public transport to get to these popular and massive celebrations. The metro will enhance staff presence for assistance, security, cleaning, and maintenance at the busiest stations during the festivals.
