These numbers represents an increase of 18% compared to August 2022 and 13% more than in August 2019, pre-pandemic. In fact, 2023 has been an exceptional year for leisure transport on Montjuïc Mountain, with historical records in each month from January to August, except for the month of February when it was closed for technical reasons.
Inaugurated in 2007, the Montjuïc Cable Car has achieved a remarkable 1.38 million trips on the first eight months of 2023, approaching its annual maximum of trips. In 2022, the number of trips made reached 1.53 million.
If you still don't know the Montjuïc Cable Car, go up and be captivated by an impressive panoramic view of the city. The Cable Car links the Barcelona funicular station to the top of Montjuïc Mountain, offering an exciting 752-metre aerial journey to the Castell de Montjuïc.
The most convenient option to get to the cable car is to use the Montjuïc funicular, since the Parc de Montjuïc station is located near the cable car stop. You can also get there through the Montjuïc Cable Car stop on the Barcelona Tourist Bus or with bus lines 55 and 150.
